Por consumir cannabis discriminan a madres

¿El sistema patriarcal existe incluso en el consumo del cannabis? Pues sí…

Sin embargo, en las mujeres supone una ruptura de los valores sociales dominantes. Y, a pesar de esto, existen madres de familia que consumen marihuana cotidianamente y restriegan en la cara del patriarcado, no sólo su consumo consciente, también la crianza de los hijos y el bienestar familiar. Pero, ¿a qué se enfrentan estas mujeres?

¿Alguno de ustedes, adictos a Netflix, ha visto la serie de Disjointed? Más allá de querer darles una recomendación sobre la serie, quiero hablarles de uno de sus personajes: María, madre de dos hijos y esposa, a quien su terapeuta le recomienda consumir cannabis tras los ataques de depresión y ansiedad que sufre porque su matrimonio no funciona, por cuidar casi sola de sus dos hijos y aparentar una vida feliz en familia.

El primer día que María asiste al dispensario de Cannabis de Ruth “Pluma Blanca” Feldman, una feminista, activista por la legalización del cannabis, María se enfrenta a su primer porro y a un temor que toda mujer en esas circunstancias hemos pasado: lo que la sociedad dirá sobre ella al ver que consume marihuana, el cómo decirle a su esposo y cómo la verán sus hijos.

Discriminación a hijos de consumidoras de cannabis

Nunca me había puesto a pensar en mis amigas madres consumidoras, y para tener una respuesta recurrí a ellas. ¿Qué cosas enfrenta una madre fumadora con dos hijas? En primera instancia, mi amiga me hizo darme cuenta de que los otros padres de familia, es decir, sus vecinos, los cuales obviamente perciben que ella y su esposo consumen, deciden  y prefieren discriminar a sus hijas. ¿Cómo? Pues prohibiéndoles a sus hijos juntarse con ellas o jugar.

Muy parecido a lo que hacen la mayoría de los padres con la sexualidad. Cuando, justo al contrario,  el problema de consumo de drogas, embarazos en adolescentes, y otros más, deberían atenderse desde las familias con educación. 

La sociedad, al no poder recriminar directamente a las madres consumidoras, prefieren hacerlo con los hijos. Otra de mis amigas pasó por lo mismo: los padres de familia del kinder al que asistía su hijo, al darse cuenta de su consumo –¿Por qué tendríamos que ocultarlo?– decidieron armar una cacería de brujas contra el niño pidiendo su expulsión.  

Aún más terrible fue la experiencia de otra gran amiga a la cual, al dar a la luz a su bebé, los doctores decidieron que, como ella era una consumidora, no debía ni amamantar ni ver a su hijo, y decidieron castigarla de esa forma. 

Madres reales

Quiero dejar claro que las tres mujeres de las que hablo son universitarias, viven en familias nucleares normales donde ellas también colaboran de forma económica para el sustento de sus familias. Son mujeres que, como dicen muchos estudios e investigaciones, buscan un mejor estado de salud y empoderamiento al no trabajar de tiempo completo como amas de casa, que desean tener una vida plena y no reservada únicamente a la familiar, que quieren desarrollar su autoestima y su confianza personal, tener experiencias que aumenten su satisfacción personal y recibir apoyo social.

¿Desigualdades de género?

Las desigualdades de género son visibles al tratar de llevar una vida laboral, familiar y personal. Como ejemplifica María: buscar tiempo recreativo alejada de los problemas familiares para dedicarlo a la reflexión femenina, el placer sexual y el empoderamiento son necesarios, y para alcanzarlos, existen barreras en la sociedad que son parte del sistema patriarcal y es necesario reflexionar sobre ellas desde una base feminista. 

Los hombres, padres de familia (no generalizo) normalmente no están vinculados 100% a la crianza de los hijos, a la relación con los vecinos, a las juntas escolares y, por lo tanto, aunque sean consumidores no perciben la discriminación de la misma forma que sus parejas; a pesar de que ellos también fumen marihuana, la sociedad ha normalizado en especial que los hombres tengan tendencia a consumir, por el simple hecho de ser hombres, cosa contraria a la misma conducta en nosotras las mujeres, las amas de casa, las que dan a luz y crían a los hijos.
