En un amanecer del verano mágico, nací en la cama de mis padres. Afuera, la mañana inunda de aromas las calles, limones y naranjas se mezclan con el dulce olor del mango, el aire arrastra a su paso lento y suave los cañaverales y se enreda entre matas de plátanos. En las cocinas de las casas se escapa el intenso y fuerte perfume que identifica la pasión que acompaña mi vida: el café. Vaciado en la olla, justo cuando el hervor revienta el agua, despierta los sentidos y alimenta con vigor el alma.
El ambiente es de silencios. Las mujeres se mueven nerviosas, inquietas, con la mirada baja. La voz es apenas un susurro.
La Nena se alivió, La Nena trajo otro niño, pobre de La Nena, y tanto que Raúl quería una niña.
Llegué al mundo, quinto hijo en la vida de mi padre, segundo alumbramiento de mi madre, un parto cargado de expectativas, esperanzas, dolor, sudor, lágrimas e ilusiones que pronto dan paso al desconsuelo.
La Nena está triste, ella quería darle a su hombre “niña”. Por eso dejó Raúl a su mujer anterior, porque no pudo darle niña. Y ahora, ¿qué pasará?
El dolor y la frustración se desvanecen por momentos, entre copas, cuando avisan a mi padre que ha nacido un varón, según lo que muestra entre las piernas la criatura recién nacida.
Una vez más, se queda esperando a su ansiada niña.
Dos matrimonios y cinco hijos.

Nuevamente, una tarde de verano cargada de modorra, con seis años de vacío físico y mental, años sin historia, sin transmitir emociones, soy una figura de niño, cuya mente permanece en blanco. Dicen de mí: “es el hijo de La Nena, le partió la vida naciendo varón, y además así, pobre de La Nena, pobre de ella me da lástima”.
Estamos en un juego entre primas y vecinitas, hace falta una niña y alguien exclama: “A él lo vestimos de niña, total es un tonto, no dice nada. Sí, sí, sí, lo vestimos de niña, lo vestimos de niña”. Y surgió la conciencia. Un pensamiento, una palabra, una emoción, una identidad. La cárcel abría sus puertas. El reconocimiento, espíritu reprimido, olfateaba la libertad, músculo mental, permanecía ignorado en el sótano frío y oscuro del olvido. Las palabras se agolpan en la garganta, oleadas de pensamientos que llegan como tormenta eléctrica, iluminando la negra noche, relámpagos que lastiman la vista por lo intenso de su luz. Sensación de ser una frágil barca que por momentos parece ser tragada por las inmensas profundidades del mar, para en segundos ser lanzada a la superficie en la cresta de una violenta ola. Punto de reunión de lo divino-humano, momento de eternidad que transcurre en instantes, se conoce el infierno que paraliza y congela, el tiempo de muerte en un latido del corazón y la gloria de un respiro.
Se pierde la inocencia emocional y se abre la conciencia a otra dimensión existencial. Ya nunca más se es la misma persona: “Soy niña, sí soy niña, aquellos son niños, ellas son niñas, yo soy niña, niña con pipi, niña diferente, solo niña”.

¿Por qué? ¿Por qué? ¡Yo no quería nacer así! ¡Dios mío, maldigo tu nombre! ¡Tú tienes la culpa!
Mi infancia ha quedado atrás, el cura con quien me llevaron para corregirme, después de un tiempo, solo me violó y fui acusado de tocar a un hombre de Dios. Como resultado, quedé excomulgada y marcada ante la familia.
Mi mamá-abuela, Cuquita, se hace cargo de mí, para evitar la vergüenza a mis padres y hermanos.
Ahora, en mi adolescencia, a mis 14 años, estoy más sola que nunca. Mientras mi motocicleta avanza, la carretera está caliente, el aire huele a humo. En la cartera, poco dinero; en la mochila, ropa y documentos; en el alma, un dolor interno; en la mente, solo dudas.
Aún recuerdo temblando aquellas palabras: “Señor, lo hemos mandado llamar porque necesitamos hablar con usted, su hijo ha presentado conductas inapropiadas, se le ha sorprendido usando ropa de mujer, y creímos que lo más conveniente es darle de baja de la escuela para evitar problemas con sus compañeros…”
No pude escuchar más, las patadas y golpes de mi padre lastimaban tanto o más que sus palabras. Parecían, el sufrimiento y la humillación, competir en quien causaba más daño.
Los maltratos físicos solo dejan huella y molestias que el tiempo cura. Los golpes a ese ser interno, los anestesia la mente. Mi espíritu me abandona, mi cuerpo ya no reacciona ante la rabia que imprime mi padre a cada azote, la locura lo domina. Mi madre ha salido de casa con mis hermanos para no presenciar el castigo. Soy nada en sus manos, me orino en la ropa, no tengo fuerzas, aliento para quejarme, mi cuerpo está aquí. ¿Yo? No sé.
Le escucho entre brumas mentales, ya nada importa. Me está violando para que aprenda a ser hombre, le escucho muy lejano. Estoy nadando en un mar de aguas cálidas, y transparentes. Floto libre, alguien me llama, no quiero regresar.
Al despertar, recibo una maleta que me entrega mi madre, ropa, documentos y algún dinero. Puedo llevarme mi motocicleta, pero debo abandonar la casa, por mis hermanos, por la familia, por el apellido, solo porque soy una vergüenza para ellos. Es lo mejor, dicen.

Después de vagar un tiempo, de regresar con lágrimas y mucho rencor en el alma, mi mamá Cuquita me ayudó a terminar la secundaria e ingresar al Seminario de Xalapa, para buscar respuestas a mi vida y ser expulsada por declarar que deseaba ser monja y no sacerdote. Y ante su insistencia de que debía estudiar, estoy en el tecnológico. Con el apoyo de mi mamá-abuela he cumplido con mi servicio militar. Los brujos no me han ayudado en mucho. Los médicos dicen que haciendo ejercicio y teniendo novias puedo superar mis “confusiones” rápidamente. Juego americano en el equipo de la escuela, sigo corriendo en motocicleta, para mi banda soy rudo, fumo hierba y tomo, me agarro a golpes con quien se atreve a decir que soy mariquita.
Con la banda conocí los burdeles. En más de una ocasión fueron noches desenfrenadas, alcohol, crudas de desvelo y cigarros.
Admiro a los homosexuales que demuestran más valor que yo para vivir su verdad, he tenido relaciones con algunos, besos y sexo, caricias y sexo, vacío existencial, sentimientos de soledad, rechazo y miedo. Mucho miedo.
A escondidas soy yo, libre y feliz, soy la mujer que existe en mí. Esto debe ser una locura, no debe, no puede continuar.
Esta es la última ocasión, no habrá más, ¡DIOS! ¡TE ODIO!
¿Y si todo fuera una pesadilla? ¿Seguirá cuando despierte?
¡No puede ser, estoy por graduarme! ¡No puede ser!
Quizás sirva para olvidar todo este mal sueño. Dios mío, ayúdame a ser hombre. Dios mío, no me ignores, ayúdame.
Tengo miedo de hablar mientras duermo, por las noches las pesadillas me persiguen, debo cuidar mi manera de hablar, de sentir.
Con mis amistades, en más de una ocasión, me han dicho que parece que hablaran con una amiga, con otra mujer. Jugando, me dicen que soy como la Kotex, una amiga en quién confiar.
He sentido deseos de abrirles mi corazón, de confiarme, de explicar lo que sueño y vivo.
Tengo miedo. En varias oportunidades me han expresado su asco por los homosexuales, Dios mío, ayúdame.
Sin afectos, sin familia, sin encontrar mi vida, me pierdo en el espacio tiempo.
Los fantasmas solo se desvanecen hasta que los enfrentas a la luz.

¿Qué se busca en el suicidio? ¿La muerte? ¿Realmente la muerte? ¿Escapar del dolor? ¿Evitar el sufrir? ¿Terminar con la no-vida?
El alcohol y las drogas, cómplices, amos. Alguien debe recibir el odio que mis resentimientos generan, y qué mejor que mi propio cuerpo. Odio este cuerpo que no es mío, odio esta vida que no es vida, ésta pesadilla que no es mi realidad, solo tengo a mis amigas las drogas, ellas son un refugio. En ellas de verdad existo.
Locura de alcohol, drogas y resentimientos, combinación perfecta para despertar atada a la cama de un hospital. Quise mutilarme. Una amiga que llegó a buscarme evitó que me desangrara.
Las calles, las noches, nunca me parecieron tan vacías, el llanto bañaba mi rostro en cada ocasión que surgía la pregunta: ¿Por qué a mí?, ¿por qué a mí? ¿…Habrá respuesta algún día?
Mi vida es una contradicción. Una mujer en el cuerpo de un hombre, máscara de amargura y violencia que esconde un pasado sin presente. Sueños en rosa que se ahogan en pesadillas rojas.
Y roja es la sangre que brota por las venas. Escapan por las venas abiertas las desilusiones. Me he cansado de luchar antes de iniciar la conquista, tan solo dejarme ir, cerrar los ojos, abandonarme en las calles. Y las noches son el mejor refugio.
Cuando te escondes de ti, el alcohol y las drogas te ocultan los espejos.
El sexo anónimo, sin rostro, sin compromisos, sin nombre, borra el tiempo; hace insensibles las entrañas, narcotiza los sentidos, pierde.
Se ahogan los sueños en una cloaca, y de su fondo se alimentan las obsesiones.
Locura temporal dijeron; soledades, angustias, depresiones, la suma de todo, quizás algo más simple. El caso fue… Castrarse.
Creer que, al perder los genitales, sería una mujer.
Es largo, lento y plagado de falsos atajos el camino hacia el propio perdón.
“Granja de rehabilitación”, nombre que encierra un universo de sueños truncos. Un año aprendiendo a rescatar a ese ser sin edad y a llegar hasta él. Aprendiendo el significado de amar. Conocerlo y perdonarme… un camino largo. Era fácil equivocarme. Y, lentamente, fui conociendo… a la niña que nunca creció. Aquella que amaba las muñecas de trapo, que amaba sus aretes. Criatura colmada de ternura que solo deseaba jugar y correr con otras niñas, cocinar con su madre y sentirse amada.
